Keeping busy is something that requires us to tap a little deeper into our creative reserves these days. It’s an even greater challenge for our senior communities, which have proven to be the most vulnerable population. The Arcadia Family of Companies is doing all it can to ensure that its residents and members remain active with new activities and programs.
Prior to COVID-19, residents at both 15 Craigside and Arcadia would participate in wellness classes in our wellness centers. COVID-19 and the mandates now require a five person limit per class.
The team at 15 Craigside and Arcadia had to come up with creative ways to still provide classes for residents in a safe environment, so they used technology to bring classes online that residents could follow in their own apartments. The staff also established activities that they could bring up to the residents’ floors. The residents now have bar exercises in the halls and they enjoy bowling tournaments there as well!
Prior to COVID-19, residents also enjoyed craft instructors and musicians who visited and enjoyed outside excursions to the greater community. Today, staff have also created craft activities to take up to their floors and have also launched bus ride excursions with the first being a drive through Waikiki.
The Wellness and Programs teams continue to roll out new and creative ways to engage with residents in order to help them maintain healthy lifestyles!
